Join Phoenix Australia for this two-day training on Trauma Focused Cognitive Therapy for Adults: Helping sexual assault survivors process beliefs that stop them from recovering. This interactive and skills-based workshop will introduce participants to cognitive therapy as a tool to help process traumatic memories. Participants will have the opportunity to practice core cognitive therapy skills. They will then be provided with information on how to approach cognitive therapy with clients who have experienced complex and developmental trauma. This two day workshop is aimed at practitioners who have foundational experience in the assessment and treatment of sexual assault survivors.

Day one: Treatment planning for traumatic stress and trauma focused cognitive therapy. • Traumatic stress: phenomenology and mechanisms • Principles for treatment planning and sequencing • Introduction to Cognitive therapy in the context of trauma, including skills rehearsal exercises Day two: Skills for treating people who have experienced complex trauma • Principles of treatment for adults who have experienced complex trauma • Managing common issues in trauma-focused treatment including: affect dysregulation, risk, breaks in therapeutic alliance • Complex case study exercises
